In 2011, the city of Phoenix CEDD and the Phoenix IDA worked together to provide assistance to the owners of Natural Choice Academy, an environmentally friendly childcare center and pre-school located in north Phoenix.  The Phoenix IDA provided $41,250 in EXPAND II collateral assistance to the business owners to help them obtain a $165,000 loan from a local area lender, Goldwater Bank. 

Natural Choice Academy, a family-owned business located at 13840 North Tatum Boulevard (one block north of Thunderbird on Tatum), opened in the Fall of 2011.  Natural Choice Academy is currently enrolling and accepting infants through pre-K.

“With the help of the EXPAND II Program we have created over 14 direct new jobs while supporting countless others through our use of local suppliers and vendors.  NCA is adding staff every couple of weeks and expect to have over 20 employees by year end.  What began as a dream over two years ago has become Phoenix’s first All Natural Preschool thanks to economic development efforts like EXPAND II,” said Ted Batycki, President.
